Red Lobster has decided to close 163 of its restaurants. The chain has operated for 58 years. This comes amid a bigger wave of closures affecting restaurant chains at the moment.

A few locations are already confirmed. The Palm Desert, California location got the news on a Monday. The Springfield branch will close as well. The company hasn't put out the complete list yet, and they haven't said when all the shutdowns will wrap up. The closures became public on 30 August 2026. Diners nationwide are affected.
