The upcoming Marvel film Avengers: Doomsday carries high expectations. While the MCU remains successful worldwide, its recent releases haven’t matched past cultural dominance. The Fantastic Four: First Steps earned just over $500 million globally, a decent figure but modest for Marvel’s usual standards.
Before audiences see the long-awaited crossover event, the next Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland is expected to perform well. However, Avengers: Doomsday faces extra scrutiny after major production changes—recasting the main villain following Jonathan Majors’ departure, switching directors, adding X-Men from Fox’s era, and bringing Robert Downey Jr. back as Doctor Doom, likely for a remarkable payday.
Kevin Feige has also hinted that this movie could mark the end of an era for the current MCU continuity, making the project both a culmination and a test of the franchise’s future.
Actor Simu Liu has intensified anticipation by suggesting the film won’t just rely on action, but will also deliver emotional depth. During his interview with ScreenRant, Liu described the project as an ambitious yet heartfelt ensemble experience.
“I mean, there are just so many actors in it, and getting to work with those people as peers is really incredible because I grew up watching so many of them,” he said. “It feels, in a lot of ways, like a love letter to the entire genre of superhero movies. And I think there’s something really fun about that.”
Simu Liu’s comments raise expectations for Avengers: Doomsday, positioning it as both a massive crossover spectacle and a genuine tribute to superhero storytelling.
