FireDrone receives €161K from Venture Kick for heat-resistant drones
Swiss startup FireDrone has secured €161,000 (CHF 150,000) from Venture Kick to advance the development of heat-resistant drones tailored for extreme environments.
Purpose and Technology
FireDrone is creating autonomous drones that endure temperatures up to 200°C, aiming to improve safety during emergency response and industrial inspections. Their technology incorporates thermal insulation and cooling systems to operate effectively where conventional drones fail, providing real-time insights in hazardous conditions.
Challenges Addressed
Firefighters and industrial safety teams face dangers such as toxic smoke, structural instability, and intense heat when dealing with burning buildings or industrial furnaces. Standard drones usually cannot function in these environments, limiting timely situational awareness.
Market Focus
The company targets two main sectors:
- High-temperature industrial inspections
- Public safety operations
The initial markets include cement, steel, aluminium, waste-to-energy, fertiliser, and glass production, as well as emergency response scenarios where heat and smoke inhibit standard drone use.
