They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
This Remembrance Sunday (9 November), services will be held across Angus, accompanied by parades and the laying of wreaths to honor those who sacrificed their lives defending our freedoms.
Please, if you have not yet planned to attend and are able, I encourage you to take a small amount of time to join your community at one of these important events and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
If you cannot attend, I ask that you take a moment during your day to quietly reflect, whether alone or with friends and family, and remember the fallen.
Tuesday is Armistice Day, offering another opportunity to pay our respects. At 11am, whether at home or work, if possible, stop what you are doing and observe two minutes of silence to honor the selflessness and bravery of our Armed Services.
We must and will remember them.
I also take this opportunity to thank the service men and women who continue to serve our country near and far. As they protect us, we will support them.
The past years have been marked by uncertain times, with the harsh realities of war conveyed to us through diverse media.
