Millions of Australians along the east coast are preparing for potentially severe storms and heavy rain this weekend after a rough start to the storm season.
Late thunderstorms and strong winds could affect Sydney on both Friday and Saturday evenings, following warm daytime temperatures.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Jonathon Howe said much of southeastern Australia will experience several unsettled days on Friday and Saturday due to an advancing cold front.
“Today (Friday) we are looking at the possibility of thunderstorms all the way from southern Victoria across to South Australia and up into northern parts of NSW,” he said.
“For these areas, we could see damaging wind gusts with thunderstorms as we head into Saturday,” Mr. Howe added.
Heavy rainfall, large hail, and strong winds are expected to impact several coastal and inland zones across the region.
