Cameron Norrie advanced his 2025 ATP Tour wins, overtaking Jack Draper's British record for the year following a recent victory at the Metz Open.
Norrie commenced his Metz Open journey with a challenging match on Monday, beating French player Valentin Royer 6-3, 6-7, 6-3. Despite a tough contest, he secured his 31st ATP Tour win of 2025.
Earlier, Norrie had a notable victory against Carlos Alcaraz at the Paris Masters, after which Alcaraz sent him a warm message of respect. However, Norrie was later eliminated by Shanghai Masters champion Valentin Vacherot, who exited in the quarter-finals.
British number one Jack Draper experienced a strong start to 2025, rising to world number four after winning Indian Wells and reaching the Madrid Open final. Unfortunately, injuries caused a significant setback.
Due to his extended absence, Draper dropped to world number 11, while Norrie’s consistent performance has propelled him ahead in British men’s tennis this year.
"Norrie notched his 31st ATP Tour win of 2025 after defeating Valentin Royer at the Metz Open."
"Draper did not compete between Wimbledon and the US Open due to a left arm issue and withdrew from ATP Tour play for the rest of 2025."
Author's summary: Cameron Norrie's impressive consistency throughout 2025 has allowed him to outpace Jack Draper’s previously leading British record despite Draper's strong start and injury setbacks.
