Chicago enjoyed a beautiful fall day, with temperatures reaching the low to mid-60s under mostly sunny skies. This was 5 to 10 degrees warmer than the average high of 54°F for November 4.
The night will be mostly clear, mild, and breezy with southwest winds increasing to 10-20 mph and gusts up to 25 mph. Lows will stay in the lower 50s.
Partly cloudy skies and gusty winds are expected. Highs will reach the upper 50s, with west-northwest winds gusting between 30-35 mph.
More clouds will arrive Thursday, preceding rain showers late Thursday night into Friday. Temperatures on Thursday will be in the mid to upper 50s.
Friday will begin with rain but gradually dry out during the day. Temperatures will warm again to the low to mid 60s, so take advantage of the milder conditions.
A significant drop in temperatures is expected following a cold front late this week. On Saturday, highs will be near 50°F with scattered rain showers and a chance of rain mixing with snow as cooler air arrives.
Sunday and Monday will be much colder, with highs around 40°F on Sunday and upper 30s on Monday.
Fox 32 Chief Meteorologist Emily Wahls: “We’re looking at more cloudy conditions and maybe some rain later this week.”
Author's summary: Chicago will see a shift from warm fall weather to cooler temperatures and rain, with a strong cold front bringing possible snow by the weekend.
