Mild autumn weather will persist through Friday before a weekend system brings the Chicago area its first potential mix of rain and snow this season, according to FOX 32’s Mike Caplan.
Despite the passage of a cold front, today will be mostly sunny and breezy. Temperatures will range from the low to mid-50s in northern counties and up to the low 60s farther south. Tonight will remain mostly clear and cold, with lows in the 30s.
Friday morning may begin with a few leftover clouds, but the sky will clear. Highs will reach the low to mid-60s, keeping conditions mild through the end of the week.
Saturday will start with a mix of sun and clouds before rain moves in later in the day. Forecast models indicate that colder air may arrive Saturday night, possibly turning some of the rain into snow.
“There will be much discussion in coming days over what exactly falls from the sky Saturday night or Sunday into Monday morning,” said Mike Caplan.
While both American and European weather models suggest the potential for this rain-to-snow transition, significant accumulation is not expected at this time.
Author’s Summary: Chicago’s mild week will give way to a colder weekend system that could bring the season’s first trace of snow, though major accumulation remains unlikely.
