Generations Unite for Remembrance Day at Waters Edge Care Home

Residents of Waters Edge Care Home in Great Wyrley, Staffordshire, were joined by pupils from Landywood Primary School to commemorate Remembrance Day together. Waters Edge is a Specialist Residential Care Home catering to adults aged 65 and above, offering a variety of engaging events throughout the year, with Remembrance Day being a particularly meaningful occasion.

As part of the celebration, the children from Landywood Primary delivered handcrafted poppies to decorate the care home. In the weeks prior, pupils aged 2 to 11 crafted these flowers while learning about the significance and history of Remembrance Day.

Headteacher Andrew Clewer said: "Remembrance Day is an important event in our school calendar and we do lots of activities to support children's understanding of the history behind this significant day. Visiting Waters Edge Care Home and engaging with the older generation offers our children a unique learning experience. The memories shared by residents of their experiences of war are very powerful and reinforce the importance of Remembrance Day for the UK. We feel very fortunate to live in such a supportive community and thank the residents of Waters Edge for giving our pupils the opportunity to spend quality time with them."

This event fostered a meaningful connection between generations, enriching both the pupils' learning and the residents' Remembrance Day experience.
