In his new memoir We Did It, Kid, Anthony Hopkins extends a deeply personal and emotional message to his estranged daughter, Abigail Hopkins, expressing hope for reconciliation after years of separation.
The 87-year-old Academy Award-winning actor recently discussed their difficult relationship in a New York Times interview while promoting the book. He confirmed that a recent attempt to reconnect, initiated by his current wife Stella Arroyave, was ignored.
“My wife, Stella, sent an invitation [to Abigail] to come and see us,” Hopkins said in the interview published on October 25. “I wish her well, but I'm not going to waste blood over that. If you want to waste your life being in resentment, fine, go ahead.”
In the memoir, released on November 4, Hopkins writes directly to his daughter with a tone of openness and hope. He contrasts his earlier remarks by offering a welcoming invitation.
“I hope my daughter knows that my door is always open to her. I want her to be well and happy,” Hopkins wrote, as reported by Us Weekly.
