The Palestinian group Hamas condemned Kazakhstan's choice to become part of the US-brokered Abraham Accords with Israel.
“This step represents an attempt to whitewash the genocide crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against our people in Gaza, at a time when this entity and its leaders face growing international isolation and are wanted by the International Criminal Court.”
Hamas called on all countries, especially Arab and Islamic nations, to sever all ties with what it called the “criminal Zionist entity” and to avoid any normalization efforts with Israel.
“Strengthen the resilience of the Palestinian people and back their legitimate struggle to achieve freedom, independence, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
US President Donald Trump announced that Kazakhstan agreed to formally join the normalization agreements he brokered between Israel and several Muslim-majority countries.
These accords were initiated during President Trump’s first term as part of efforts to normalize diplomatic ties between Israel and various Muslim-majority nations.
Kazakhstan's decision to join the Abraham Accords has sparked criticism from Hamas, which views the move as disregarding Israeli actions in Gaza, while the US highlights the accords' role in fostering peace.
