Citywide Food Drives in Arizona Amid Government Shutdown
As grocery demand rises due to the ongoing government shutdown, several Arizona cities are organizing food drives to support those in need.
Flagstaff's Two-Month Food and Supplies Drive
Flagstaff has initiated a two-month-long drive to collect food and essential supplies. According to Sarah Langley from the city, donations can be made at various municipal facilities, including city hall and recreation centers. The collected items will be distributed by the Flagstaff Family Food Center.
“We’re hearing from nonprofits in Flagstaff that this year they are experiencing really increased demand. The Flagstaff Family Food Center announced that they served over 50,000 meals in October,” Langley said.
Flagstaff Donation Drop-Off Locations
- Flagstaff City Hall, 211 W Aspen Ave – Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m.
- Police Department, 911 E Sawmill Rd – Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m.
- Aquaplex, 1702 N Fourth St – Monday to Friday, from 6 a.m.
- Hal Jensen Recreation Center, 2403 N Izabel St – Monday to Friday, starting at 10 a.m.
The drive aims to help meet the rising community food needs caused by economic challenges.
