Keeley Hawes, known for her roles as sophisticated or dangerous women on screen, reveals that her real life is far simpler and grounded. Speaking with Maddy Fletcher for YOU Magazine, she opened up about her marriage to actor Matthew Macfadyen and her unpretentious off-screen pleasures.
Reflecting on her experience at the Met Gala, Hawes shared a surprising detail about the event’s swift conclusion.
“The thing that might surprise you about the Met Gala is how promptly it ends. Everyone’s gone!”
She explained that most guests hurry to change outfits and attend afterparties. Yet, when she and Macfadyen attended the previous year, their evening took a quieter turn.
“We were so stunned and tired. We went straight back to our hotel, talked about everything we’d seen.”
Instead of mingling at exclusive parties, the couple opted for relaxation. At that time, Hawes was engrossed in Naked and Afraid—a reality series where two strangers must survive in the wild for 21 days without clothes.
“It took the edge off,” says Hawes, “having a little glass of wine and watching an episode of Naked and Afraid.”
For the occasion, the actress wore a delicately embroidered tulle dress paired with Dior slingback heels—an elegant contrast to her candid reflection on domestic comfort and quiet evenings.
Between the glamour of red carpets and calm hotel nights, Keeley Hawes reveals how grounded love and simple rituals balance her high-profile life.
