Although The Marvels underperformed at the box office, reports suggest that Brie Larson might return as Captain Marvel in Avengers: Doomsday, while heroes from Eternals remain absent from the upcoming project.
Despite earlier claims that Larson would no longer appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, new clues point otherwise. In a recent Instagram story, the actress was seen voting in a Statewide Special Election, where observant fans noticed her wearing a wing accessory resembling Carol Danvers’ from the films.
This fueled online speculation that production for Avengers: Doomsday may be undergoing late changes, possibly including Larson’s return as the superhero.
While Larson’s last MCU outing struggled commercially, her reappearance seems likely. Meanwhile, the Eternals characters appear excluded from future MCU films despite a substantial budget and star-studded cast.
“Since it came right after Endgame, it had the freedom to experiment with what could or couldn’t work for a superhero ensemble,”
said director Chloé Zhao in a Vanity Fair interview, acknowledging the creative risks that may have contributed to the film’s mixed reception.
Brie Larson’s possible return as Captain Marvel in Avengers: Doomsday reignites debate over Marvel’s casting choices, contrasting her comeback with the silence surrounding Eternals.
