Exceptional Police Work Leads To Two Arrests

Inspector Danny Kirk, Area Commander for Tairawhiti, reported that excellent police efforts resulted in two Mongrel Mob members being charged following an incident in Wairoa.

Incident Details

Around midday, two detectives were investigating a Black Street address that had been targeted by arson last week. While there, they noticed a vehicle of interest. The same vehicle then cut in front of another patrol unit nearby and failed to stop when signaled by police.

Police Pursuit and Arrests

After following the vehicle to a Jellicoe Street address, all occupants fled on foot. Police discovered a loaded rifle near the car, leading to rapid deployment of cordons.

Both men are scheduled to appear at Gisborne District Court today.
