Jascha Franklin-Hodge, face of Michelle Wu’s changes to city streets, to depart administration - The Boston Globe

Jascha Franklin-Hodge to Leave Boston Administration

Jascha Franklin-Hodge, who has long served in public office, announced that he will step down as Boston’s Chief of Streets at the end of the year. His departure marks a major change in Mayor Michelle Wu’s cabinet ahead of her second term.

Throughout his tenure, Franklin-Hodge became a central figure in the Wu administration’s street redesign efforts. While widely appreciated by transit advocates and cyclists, many critics opposed the city’s new bike infrastructure and plans to revamp Blue Hill Avenue.

The announcement follows Mayor Wu’s recent reelection and other leadership shifts within her administration. Tiffany Chu, Wu’s chief of staff, will also depart before the start of the new term. Clare Kelly, a seasoned Massachusetts political figure who heads Wu’s intergovernmental relations team, will assume the role later this month.

“It just feels like a natural time for a transition,” Franklin-Hodge said. “In any administration, there are moments of opportunity to move on to what’s next. I’m looking forward to more time with my kids and exploring my next adventure.”
