Princess of Wales to Mark Armistice Day

The Princess of Wales, Catherine, will represent the Royal Family at the Armistice Day service taking place next week at the National Memorial Arboretum near Lichfield in Staffordshire.

At 11 a.m., Catherine will lead attendants in a two-minute silence to honor members of the Armed Forces who lost their lives in conflicts. Following the silence, she will lay a wreath in remembrance, Kensington Palace announced today.

Poem and Performances

The service will include a specially commissioned poem by Arji Manuelpillai, the Poet in Residence at the Arboretum.

“The verses will reflect the importance of connections, shared experiences, and the enduring bonds formed between those who serve in the military.”

These themes are said to be close to the Princess’s heart. The all-female a cappella group Black Voices will perform at the ceremony.

Tribute and Meeting with Veterans

After the service, Catherine will visit the newly inscribed names on the Armed Forces Memorial before meeting veterans and families of serving military members, including children whose parents are currently deployed.

Location

The event will take place in Alrewas, Staffordshire, at the National Memorial Arboretum — the nation’s center of remembrance.
