The Clemson Tigers started their season strong with a commanding 88-38 victory over the New Hampshire Wildcats. Their defense was outstanding, limiting New Hampshire to just one successful three-pointer on 18 attempts in the first half.
Clemson showcased a well-distributed offense, with 10 players logging at least 15 minutes during the game. The team scored 43 points in the first half without any player reaching double digits. Head coach Brad Brownell quickly rotated his lineup, benching all starters within the first five minutes to give depth players significant playing time.
In the second half, the rotation continued, with six players scoring between 7 and 11 points. A total of 12 players took the court, an unusual move for a Brownell-coached team. Only freshman Chase Thompson did not score.
“I think you see that a lot of guys can contribute,” Brownell said. “I thought our starters did some really good things establishing the tone and the way we were gonna play.”
Redshirt freshman Ace Buckner led the team in scoring with 18 points in 20 minutes of play.
The 50-point win marks head coach Brad Brownell’s largest margin of victory in a season opener.
