Hayley Williams has released “Showbiz,” a new surprise track from her third solo album, Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party, which officially launched on vinyl today. This song joins previous surprise tracks “Good Ol Days” and “Parachute,” added after the album's initial 17-song release over the summer.
Williams co-wrote “Showbiz” with producer Daniel James, who contributed to the entire album. The track tells the story of a romantic night out, captured in a club's smoky and strobe-lit atmosphere. She sings:
“I wanna do it again / I wanna dance in the strobe lights / I wanna choke on the smoke / And feel your eyes on me,”
before reflecting on whether the experience meant as much to the other person as it did to her.
The visualizer for “Showbiz” highlights Nashville’s skyline and includes Williams's characteristic scribble art, consistent with the album’s visual style.
In honor of the album’s physical release, record stores worldwide hosted “Ego Nite,” an event featuring playback of the album, exclusive merchandise, and physical LP sales.
