At a Los Angeles screening of her new romantic fantasy film Eternity on November 5, Elizabeth Olsen shared how daily journaling keeps her centered and focused. The actress and producer, 36, attended the event with her husband Robbie Arnett.
Olsen revealed she has been journaling every morning for the past three years as part of her self-care routine. This ritual, she said, helps her slow down and reflect on her thoughts.
“You slow down your thoughts, I think, when you start writing by hand.”
She explained that her entries vary: sometimes she writes about events from the previous day, while other times about her current readings or thoughts — “It’s kind of everything,” she added.
Beyond mindfulness, Olsen finds journaling an important creative tool that supports her work as an actress.
“It’s really helpful for work,” she said. “I have three different journals. I have a work journal that's separate for creating a character.”
For Olsen, journaling serves as both emotional grounding and creative exploration — a practice she doesn’t skip, even amid a busy career spanning from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to her latest project, Eternity.
Author’s summary: Elizabeth Olsen practices morning journaling as a powerful way to stay calm, reflect, and spark creativity in her acting career.
