Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone are joining forces on their first collaborative project, an unexpected Muppet movie centered on Miss Piggy.
Lawrence revealed the news during an appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, saying,
"I don't know if I can announce this, but I'm just going to. Emma Stone and I are producing a Miss Piggy movie."
When asked if they would star in the film, Lawrence responded with a laugh, "I think so… We have to."
The screenplay is being written by Cole Escola, writer and star of the Broadway show Oh, Mary! Though new to theatrical screenplays, Escola is a Tony Award winner and has contributed to TV shows such as The Other Two, At Home with Amy Sedaris, and Ziwe.
Miss Piggy is a key character in the Muppets franchise, created by Jim Henson and originally performed by Frank Oz. She is known for her glamorous style, diva personality, karate chops, and romantic interest in Kermit the Frog.
