Swedish Engineering Company Highlights China as Key Market

At the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, Swedish engineering and service company Alfa Laval strengthened its commitment to China, emphasizing the country as its most critical market for future growth.

Commitment to China’s Market

CEO Tom Erixon and CFO Fredrik Ekstrom shared in an interview with China Central Television that China remains central to Alfa Laval’s global strategy and energy-related initiatives.

“Sometimes it’s important that we, as a team, experience the same thing. It’s very much a learning experience from what is for us the most important market in the world, China,” said Tom Erixon.

Strategic Opportunities and Partnerships

Fredrik Ekstrom emphasized that the expo provides valuable chances to engage with government officials, customers, and partners while gaining firsthand understanding of China’s market dynamics.

“I think it’s a mix of meeting government officials, it’s meeting our customers, and of course, it’s expanding our view of what’s happening in China at the same time because when you look around, you really get a true sense of how important China is as a market for the rest of the world,” Ekstrom stated.

He added that China contributes about 20 percent of Alfa Laval’s turnover and plays a leading role in driving the global energy transition.

Guided by China’s Development Plans

Erixon noted that China’s Five-Year Plans have served as reliable indicators for Alfa Laval’s long-term strategies.

“They are very predictive of what’s actually going to happen,” he remarked.

Author’s Summary

Alfa Laval positions China as its top strategic market, leveraging national development plans and strong local partnerships to fuel innovation and energy transition goals.
