Major UK Motorway Shuts as Air Ambulance Lands After Horror Crash

A multi-vehicle crash occurred on the M25, prompting an air ambulance to land directly on the road. Only one lane remains closed, according to traffic monitoring site Inrix.

Routes through Enfield and Edmonton, including the North Circular around the Great Cambridge Interchange, are congested as motorists seek to avoid the M25. Traffic is backing up to J26 (Waltham Abbey) following the incident between J25 A10 Great Cambridge Road (Enfield) and J24 A111 Stagg Hill (Potters Bar).

National Highways East reports delays of around 60 minutes and four miles of congestion following an earlier closure. The M25 clockwise has now reopened, according to an update.

"Traffic is currently STOPPED on the #M25 anti-clockwise between J25 (Waltham Cross) and J24 (Potters Bar) due to a multi-vehicle collision. Delays are building on approach. Please allow for extra journey time."

Police were spotted at the scene following the multi-vehicle accident. The M25 clockwise is now open between J23 (A1M) and J25.
