WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen appeared on MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House” with Nicolle Wallace to criticize President Donald Trump for failing to take action to protect Americans’ access to affordable health care and to broker negotiations to end the ongoing Republican-led government shutdown.
During the interview, Rosen emphasized the importance of extending the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) enhanced premium tax credits to keep health coverage affordable for working families. According to a recent analysis from the non-partisan Kaiser Family Foundation, health care premiums could more than double if these credits are not renewed. In Nevada alone, nearly 95,000 residents benefit from the ACA tax credits.
“Donald Trump is in charge of the White House. He’s actually Speaker of the House these days, as he alleges himself, and he’s pretty much in control of the Senate. He could stop this shutdown right now by calling a group of Democrats and Republicans together to work on preserving the accessibility and affordability of health care for tens of millions of Americans who are about to fall off a cliff at the end of this year. Whether you get your health care on the exchanges or through your employer, everybody’s healthcare is going up.”
