Thailand has initiated a national drone delivery pilot project in Bangkok, led by the collaboration of National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT), the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), and High Lander Aviation.
The event, named “The New Era of Drone Delivery,” showcased large-scale aerial deliveries designed to advance the country's drone infrastructure. This project highlights a significant move toward integrating drone technology in urban logistics.
The partnership between NT and High Lander utilized coordinated unmanned traffic management (UTM) systems to ensure safe drone operations within complex city environments. High Lander’s Vega UTM platform was integrated with NT’s advanced 5G network, providing real-time flight visibility, coordination, and safety assurance for all participating drones.
This advanced system allowed operators to:
Throughout the demonstration, dozens of drone deliveries were completed efficiently, transporting medical supplies, agricultural products, and consumer goods.
“CAAT’s role is to regulate aviation safety and promote the advancement of the aviation industry. Supporting innovation and technological development in unmanned aircraft and related systems is a key part of our mission,” said Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the CAAT.
This pioneering drone delivery pilot in Bangkok illustrates Thailand's commitment to advancing drone logistics through innovative technology and regulatory support.
