Lee Bae: The In-Between

Born in 1956 in Cheongdo, South Korea, Lee Bae is an artist currently based in Paris and Seoul. He is recognized for his monochromatic yet captivating exploration of blackness. Drawing inspiration from charcoal as a symbol of life's cycle, Lee uses raw charcoal, carbon black—a material resembling soot—and charcoal ink in his sculptures and pictorial works.

Exhibition Details

This November, Lee presents a solo exhibition at Perrotin featuring his latest bronze sculpture series, Brushstrokes, alongside a poetic video performance titled The In-Between, which showcases the artist moving through a Korean rice paddy.
