Two Drown in Dandenong Creek
A woman and a child drowned after falling into a waterway in Dandenong this afternoon. A witness reported that the two were swept away after falling into Dandenong Creek, near Allan Street, at approximately 3:45 pm.
It is believed the woman attempted to rescue the child and encountered trouble herself. Police conducted a search in the area, found the unconscious pair, pulled them from the water, and started CPR.
Despite the emergency responders' efforts, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Their identities have not yet been confirmed. Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
