The Greater Dandenong City Council has been honored with the 2025 Cities Litter Award at the 43rd Annual Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria Tidy Towns and Cities Sustainability Awards. This recognition highlights the council’s enduring dedication to environmental progress and community engagement across Victoria.
The sustainability awards commend local achievements that inspire citizens, shift environmental habits, reduce waste, and promote social inclusion. They also recognize initiatives aimed at youth and Indigenous participation, as well as projects that build community resilience.
The council’s Waste Services Team earned the award for its educational campaign, “Bin It or Take It Home With You,” which encourages proper litter disposal and spreads awareness about the environmental harm caused by waste.
“This award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our Waste Services Team, not just for this project, but for the work they do every day,” said Sanjay Manivasagasivam, Executive Director of City Futures. “We’re proud to lead initiatives that make our city cleaner.”
According to the Council, this recognition underscores the joint efforts with residents toward a cleaner and greener Greater Dandenong—now and in the future.
Greater Dandenong City Council’s win reflects its continued leadership in sustainability, environmental awareness, and active community collaboration for a cleaner city.
