In this silent hospital, patients are getting better faster

Hospital wards are often noisy, even during the night, which negatively impacts patient recovery. In the UK, the Silent Hospital Pilot Project, a partnership between the NHS and DNV Imatis, is testing a new method to reduce noise. The project replaces traditional nurse call bells on an antenatal ward with a system that sends alerts directly to staff mobile phones.

This approach leads to better rest for both newborns and mothers, speeds up recovery times, and enhances the efficiency of patient care.

Additional Health Initiatives

Author’s summary: Reducing noise in hospital wards through innovative alert systems improves patient recovery, newborn and mother well-being, and overall care efficiency.
