The Cat and the Dragon Premieres July 2026
The fantasy anime The Cat and the Dragon (Neko to Ryu) is set to premiere in July 2026. A teaser trailer and visual have been revealed, giving fans a first look at the adaptation.
Voice Cast and Staff
Takehito Koyasu will voice Nekoryu, a dragon raised by a cat. The production team includes:
- Director: Jin-Koo Oh (Oi! Tonbo)
- Series Composer: Mitsutaka Hirota (Rent-A-Girlfriend, This Monster Wants to Eat Me)
- Character Designers: Rie Nishino, Chiaki Kurakazu

About the Original Work
The Cat and the Dragon is based on a light novel series written by Amara and illustrated by Mai Okuma. The novel began publication in 2017 under the Takarajimasha Bunko label and will release its ninth volume on November 26, 2025 (JST).
The story originally started as a short fiction piece on Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2013. A manga adaptation by Izumi Sasaki is also available.
