Powys campsite named the best in Wales reveals new plans for the site

Fforest Fields Campsite to Expand with New Caravans

Fforest Fields, the award-winning campsite and glamping site near Llandrindod Wells in Hundred House, Powys, plans to add new rental caravans. The family-run site, recognized as the best in Wales, has submitted expansion plans to Powys County Council.

Details of the Expansion Proposal

The application seeks permission for the "siting of nine caravans" along with the installation of "three treatment plants and drainage fields and associated works." The caravans would include a mix of two-bedroom and three-bedroom static units positioned by the lake's edge, a location that has hosted camping activities since the 1980s.

Background and Philosophy of the Site

Originally, Fforest Fields began by converting a small central field on the farm into a campsite. According to the owners, "some of our very first visitors are still coming back year after year." Despite growth over time, the site maintains its original charm.

"Even though the site has grown and evolved over the years; we work hard to retain the essence of that original 'little gem' of a site that's loved by so many."

Award Recognition

The family business, run by Will and Natalie Barstow, was honored earlier this year as the best campsite in Wales at the 2025 Welsh Hospitality Awards.

Summary: Fforest Fields, named Wales' top campsite, plans to enhance visitor experience by adding static caravans while preserving its beloved atmosphere established since the 1980s.
