This marks the largest launch for any music biopic teaser in history and the biggest first-day trailer debut ever for Lionsgate.

Lionsgate reported the record-breaking figures on Saturday, citing analytics firm WaveMetrix.

The teaser showcases the first extended look at Jaafar Jackson, nephew of Michael Jackson, portraying the King of Pop. It will also be featured in theaters next week alongside Lionsgate’s film “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.”

“Michael” is scheduled for global release on April 24, 2026. Lionsgate will oversee U.S. distribution, while Universal Pictures handles international markets except Japan, where Kino Films takes charge.

The biopic explores Jackson’s life beyond his musical achievements, following his journey from a Jackson Five prodigy to a groundbreaking solo artist. The film aims to portray both his public performances and defining offstage moments, illustrating the evolution of his artistry.
