Oman has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a private consortium to develop a low-carbon e-methanol project in the Dhofar region. This public-private partnership involves the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of the Sultanate of Oman and a consortium consisting of HIF, Acciona Nordex Green Hydrogen (ANGH), and Al Meera Investments.
The collaboration, announced on November 5, aims to establish a large-scale integrated e-methanol supply and bunkering hub to support the decarbonization of shipping.
Under the agreement, the parties will jointly evaluate the technical, regulatory, and commercial frameworks necessary to establish a large-scale e-methanol facility, utilizing Oman’s strategic coastal locations and renewable energy potential.
