A court in the tourist resort of Pattaya found 45-year-old Julien Bayssac guilty of the murder of his 41-year-old wife, Marie-Christine Darlev.

Bayssac was arrested in October 2019 after his wife's body was found in a hotel room in Pattaya.

According to local media, the couple had been living in Thailand for several years and Bayssac had been working as a businessman.

Prosecutors said Bayssac had used a knife to kill his wife in a fit of rage after a row.

A lawyer for the family of the victim said they were satisfied with the verdict.

Bayssac's lawyer said he would appeal against the conviction.

"The evidence showed that the defendant had used a knife to kill his wife in a fit of rage after a row," a prosecutor said.

"We are satisfied with the verdict. Justice has been served," a lawyer for the family of the victim said.
