Louise de Brisson has won Yale's 2023 National Trivia Championship, edging out a field of over 100 competitors from across the United States.
De Brisson, a rising Yale senior, took home the title after besting her opponents in a series of challenging rounds that tested their knowledge in a wide range of subjects, from history to science to pop culture.
"I'm completely overwhelmed and thrilled," de Brisson said in a statement to the Yale Daily News. "I've been preparing for this competition for months, and to finally win it is just an incredible feeling."
De Brisson, who is majoring in English and history, said she was particularly strong in the competition's history and literature rounds, but also performed well in the more general knowledge categories.
She credited her victory to a combination of hard work and a bit of luck, saying that she was able to stay focused and composed under pressure.
"I think the key to my success was just being able to stay calm and not get too nervous," she said. "I also made sure to do a lot of studying and reviewing, so that I felt confident in my knowledge."
