It's been a tough start to the season for the Los Angeles Kings' 2014 Stanley Cup winning team.
Los Angeles dropped a 4-2 decision to the Minnesota Wild on Sunday, which marked the Kings' fifth consecutive loss.
But it was the penalty taking by the Kings that put them in a hole early in the game.
The Wild put the Kings on the power play a total of 10 times, and Los Angeles was only able to muster a single power play goal.
Los Angeles surrendered two short-handed goals and were unable to muster a meaningful comeback.
With the loss, Los Angeles now sits at 2-4 on the season.
"It's frustrating when you give a team that many opportunities," said Kings head coach Darryl Sutter. "The short-handed goals were the difference in the game."
The Kings will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they host the Colorado Avalanche.
Los Angeles will need a better penalty kill and a stronger power play if they want to get back on track.
