The heritage-listed "art deco great dame," the Mayfair Hotel, will be transformed into a luxury lifestyle destination under the renowned Kimpton brand. IHG Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Ark Capital to take over the management of this prominent Adelaide landmark.
Originally built in 1934 and converted into a luxury hotel in 2015, the Mayfair is famous for its grand Art Deco facade, classic interiors, and the popular rooftop bar, Hennessy. The hotel’s 170 rooms will stay under IHG’s management during a planned closure starting mid-December for extensive renovations. The revamped property, to be renamed Kimpton Mayfair Adelaide, is expected to reopen by the end of 2026.
Kimpton Hotels are known for their distinctive, design-driven hospitality that emphasizes heartfelt human connections and personalized experiences. Each location is uniquely tailored to reflect its local environment.
The Kimpton Mayfair Adelaide will join the recently opened Kimpton Margot Sydney and the upcoming Kimpton Teneriffe, scheduled to debut in 2031.
Matt Tripolone, Managing Director for Australasia & Pacific at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Ark Capital for the first time and together reimagine one of Adelaide’s most famous hotels.”
