Commonwealth Secretariat backs leadership training in Trinidad and Tobago

Partnership for integrity and strong governance

Last month, the Commonwealth Secretariat collaborated with the Integrity Commission of Trinidad and Tobago to conduct an intensive week-long leadership and integrity development programme. The training aimed to strengthen leadership capacity in public institutions and promote principles of transparency, accountability, and ethical governance.

Empowering ethical leaders

The workshop brought together public officials, community leaders, and representatives from various sectors to engage in interactive learning sessions. Participants explored strategies to enhance ethical decision-making, reduce corruption risks, and build resilient organizations aligned with democratic values.

Building lasting impact

Officials from both the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Integrity Commission emphasized that leadership grounded in integrity is vital for sustainable national development. The programme forms part of a broader Commonwealth initiative to support member states in improving governance and public trust through targeted training and institutional support.

"Good governance and ethical leadership are the cornerstones of effective public service and sustainable development," said a Commonwealth official during the closing session.
