Somerset Council urges eligible residents to receive their flu vaccination if they have not done so yet. The optimal time for the flu jab is during autumn or early winter, before the flu season intensifies.
Flu cases are already being reported this year. Influenza is more serious than a common cold; it can lead to severe lung infections like bronchitis and pneumonia or worsen existing health conditions.
“Protecting yourself means protecting others. With flu already circulating, now is the perfect time for those who are eligible. It’s quick, safe and helps stop the spread to those most at risk.” — Councillor Graham Oakes, Somerset Council’s Executive Member for Public Health, Climate Change and Environment
Somerset Council stresses the importance of timely flu vaccination to protect individuals and the community as flu cases rise early this season.
