LEWISTOWN — The Mifflin County Commissioners joined counties nationwide in honoring America’s veterans by approving a proclamation supporting Operation Green Light. This initiative recognizes those who served and those transitioning back to civilian life.
The resolution, adopted unanimously by Commissioners Robert Postal, Kevin Kodish, and Noah Wise, designates November 4–11 as a week to “salute and honor the service and sacrifices” of the men and women of the U.S. armed forces.
“We recognize the service and sacrifices of our veterans and urge the community to show their support during this week.”
Residents and businesses are encouraged to display green lights in their windows throughout the week to demonstrate gratitude and solidarity with veterans.
This campaign is part of a nationwide effort led by the National Association of Counties to raise awareness of the challenges service members face when returning to civilian communities.
Following the proclamation, the commissioners addressed various county matters, including public programs and appointments. They also approved a 2026 inmate housing agreement with Centre County.
