Former NFL star Antonio Brown was extradited from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to the United States to face trial for an attempted murder related to a shooting incident in Miami earlier this year.
Miami police confirmed on Thursday that Brown, 37, is currently detained in Essex County, New Jersey. He awaits another extradition to Miami-Dade County to face charges connected to the May 16 altercation at a boxing event hosted by influencer Adin Ross.
The exact timing of Brown’s apprehension and his transfer to Miami-Dade County remains unclear.
“This is just another example of the relentless work and dedication of Miami Police detectives, working closely with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office and U.S. Marshals to identify and arrest those who commit crimes in the City of Miami,” police said in a statement.
Brown’s social media posts indicated he had been in Dubai for several months before his arrest. After a June arrest warrant was issued, an attorney posted a $10,000 bond for Brown with house arrest conditions, but he failed to surrender to authorities, prompting the ongoing extradition efforts.
Brown is a former All-Pro wide receiver whose legal troubles stem from this incident.
