Livinia Nixon to Step Down from 9News Melbourne Weather

After two decades as 9News Melbourne's weather presenter, Livinia Nixon has announced she will step down from this role, with her final broadcast airing on Tuesday, 18 November. She will continue her work on Nine’s travel shows Getaway and Postcards.

Career and Decision

Nixon joined the Nine Network in 1997 and began presenting the 9News Melbourne weather in 2004. She explained that the decision to leave the weather desk came as her two sons enter their senior school years.

“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them,”

She expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying,

“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”

Future Plans with Nine Network

While Livinia is stepping away from the nightly weather presentings, she remains committed to Nine’s travel programs.

“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,”
“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’ I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”

Summary

Livinia Nixon is retiring from her role as 9News Melbourne weather presenter after 20 years to focus on family while continuing on Nine’s travel shows.
