SALT LAKE CITY — Elder Gérald Caussé, originally from France and the former Presiding Bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was called and ordained as the newest member of the Church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Thursday.
Elder Caussé, 62, was ordained by President Dallin H. Oaks along with other members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. The Quorum is the second-highest governing body in the Church, with members serving as special witnesses of Christ and managing the Church’s worldwide operations.
“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ,” Elder Caussé stated on Thursday. “And I know He’s our Savior and Redeemer. What a wonderful thing it is to be a witness of Christ.”
Elder Caussé served in the Presiding Bishopric from 2012 and was a General Authority Seventy from 2008 to 2012. During his ministry, he has been a strong advocate for caring for others and supporting the Church’s youth.
Summary: Elder Gérald Caussé’s call to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles marks a continuation of devoted leadership shaped by his lifelong faith, family heritage, and focus on youth and community care.
