Surrey Honours Veterans with Citywide Remembrance Day Ceremonies
Several events will be held across Surrey on Tuesday, Nov. 11 to honour the service, courage, and sacrifice of Canada’s veterans.
Mayor’s Message
“Remembrance Day is an opportunity for us to come together and reflect on the steadfast dedication of Canada’s veterans and those who continue to serve,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “Their legacy lives on in the freedoms we enjoy and the communities we build. I encourage everyone to take a moment during Veterans Week and on Remembrance Day to reflect and express appreciation for the commitment and courage of our veterans and service members.”
Event Details and Recommendations
- Residents are encouraged to arrive early to find parking or consider alternative transportation like biking or transit.
- The largest ceremony will be held at Veterans Square in Cloverdale, hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion Cloverdale Branch and livestreamed on the City of Surrey Facebook page.
- The Museum of Surrey (17710 56A Ave.) will be open to the public until 1 p.m.
- At Surrey Centre Cemetery, visitors can place a carnation at veterans’ memorials starting at 10:45 a.m.
- The City offers a new searchable online map to locate veterans or loved ones buried in City-operated cemeteries.
