Aryna Sabalenka claimed a convincing victory over Coco Gauff in straight sets during their final group stage clash at the 2025 WTA Finals. This win marked another chapter in their developing rivalry following their past meetings on clay courts.
The world No. 1 Sabalenka triumphed over the third-seeded Gauff with scores of 7-6 (5), 6-2. The first set proved tense, as Gauff led 5-4 and 30/0 before Sabalenka fought back to win the tiebreak. From that point, the momentum shifted decisively in Sabalenka’s favor.
“If I would know, probably I wouldn't put myself in that situation. I don't know, I was just trying to stay aggressive, I guess. I was just trying to find my rhythm, find my game. I was kind of working for the second set already, and magically was able to turn things around. Super happy with the performance and super happy to get this win in straight sets and happy to be through the round robin.”
Sabalenka’s composed performance against Gauff affirmed her dominance at the 2025 WTA Finals, turning early pressure into a confident straight-sets victory.
