Open Garbage Dumping: Civic Body Issues Challans to 25 Violators

Continuing its campaign against open dumping of garbage, the Municipal Corporation (MC) fined 25 individuals on Wednesday night. Earlier this week, MC teams had already issued 50 challans to violators in various parts of the city.

Enforcement and Vigilance

The civic body teams maintain round-the-clock vigilance to catch offenders. The latest challans were issued along the road connecting Basti Jodhewal chowk to Karabara chowk. Offenders were instructed to remove the waste they had dumped by the roadside.

Leadership Directives and Penalties

The drive against open garbage dumping and waste burning is launched under the directives of Mayor Inderjit Kaur and MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal. Challans are issued regularly to deter violators.

The MC Commissioner stated, "Health branch officials have been directed to issue hefty challans. If needed, strict legal action will be taken against those dumping waste openly."

Awareness and Public Responsibility

Awareness campaigns and cleanliness drives are ongoing throughout the city. Shopkeepers in different markets have also been fined for violations. Commissioner Dachalwal emphasized the role of residents:

"Residents should take ownership and support the civic body in maintaining cleanliness. They must hand over waste to garbage collectors or use designated static compactor sites."

This proactive approach demonstrates the MC’s commitment to keeping the city clean and healthy by enforcing strict anti-dumping measures.

Summary: The Municipal Corporation intensifies its anti-garbage dumping campaign by imposing fines and raising awareness, urging citizens to actively participate in maintaining city cleanliness.
