Shared win is a cherished one after big year for Andrew Rowe and his family

Shared Win Is a Cherished One for Andrew Rowe and Family

Andrew Rowe's greyhound, Taw Galaxy, captured the Ladbrokes Goulburn Cup, marking the biggest win of his training career. After Taw Galaxy led throughout and secured the $40,000 prize, Rowe embraced his dog before inviting his family onto the track to share the moment.

"To do it with all my family here, at my home track, it's just tremendous, and it's pretty overwhelming. I'm just so happy," Rowe said.

Rowe expressed deep gratitude for his family's hard work and support over the years and highlighted his wife's vital role in his success.

"I know how hard we've all worked over the years, the dedication, the love we've got for these animals, it's just unreal. And this girl here, this lovely wife of mine (Deb), I'm telling you, I cannot do anything I'm doing without her. She's massive, she's huge, people don't understand the work involved, it's incredible, and she's just a gem."

Overcoming Injury Challenges

Rowe's journey was not without hardship. Three years ago, he suffered a serious back injury and experienced a relapse just before Christmas last year. In February, lifting a 20kg drum of detergent triggered another setback.

"I spent 10 days crawling around the house. I was on painkillers and anti-inflammatories, but I was still in agony," he recalled.

Due to his severe pain, Rowe could not train his dogs himself and asked his good friend Ruth Matic to take over temporarily. During this period, Taw Galaxy won the prestigious Magic Maiden at Wentworth Park.
