A new country will formally join normalization deals with Israel, collectively known as the Abraham Accords, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy announced on Thursday, Anadolu reports.
Steve Witkoff, the US Special Envoy to the Middle East, spoke at a business forum in Miami, Florida, revealing plans for the announcement. He did not specify the country but confirmed the news would be made Thursday evening.
“I’m flying back to Washington tonight because we’re going to announce tonight, another country coming into the Abraham Accords,” Witkoff said.
President Trump is scheduled to host leaders from five Central Asian countries—Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan—at the White House on Thursday evening. While it is uncertain if the new country's inclusion will be announced during this dinner, the President is expected to be present for any major news.
The Abraham Accords are agreements that normalize relations between Israel and various Muslim-majority countries, initially signed during President Trump's first term.
