Vijayawada: Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu announced that the government has launched historic measures to shield onion farmers from financial losses amid falling prices. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu declared a substantial compensation plan to support them.

Government Intervention in Onion Markets

Atchannaidu stated the government intervened by purchasing onions directly from markets to assist farmers.

“We are implementing robust plans to safeguard their interests amid falling onion prices.”

Compensation Details

Recognizing that market intervention alone would not suffice, the Chief Minister decided to provide Rs 50,000 per hectare as compensation, helping thousands of farmers, especially in Kurnool and Kadapa districts.

“The government is working to release these funds promptly.”
