Her Majesty The Queen officially opened the 97th Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey on Thursday, 6th November 2025. This annual event marks the beginning of the nation’s Remembrance commemorations.
The tradition started in 1928 when the Poppy Factory placed a small number of poppies and a collecting tin on the grounds of St Margaret's Church. Initially, only a few poppies were planted around a single cross. Over the years, it has grown into a vast display, now covering St Margaret’s churchyard with thousands of scarlet poppies every November.
